YOUTH

Friday Night Rocks 
$10 per climber (teens), Friday nights, 7-10 pm  (includes day pass, equipment rental and instruction) Must present student ID.

First Saturday Kids Belay
$16 per climber, first Saturday of every month, 10 am-Noon, at the Downtown Crag. Ages 4-10. Includes equipment rental. No experience required. Members! Want to climb during First Saturday Kids Belay? You can! Bring your kids in and we will belay them while you climb.
You can arrive with your child at any time during this program.
You must stay in the facility while your child participates.

Kids Camps
Available for all ages and abilities. No experience required! Climbers have a great time climbing while learning how to set and achieve goals, develop climbing skills, increase strength, flexibility and endurance, meet other climbers their age and improve overall fitness. Best of all, get them climbing our walls, not yours! Indoor Camps for ages 4-8 and 9-13 and Outdoor Camps for ages 11-17.

Scramblers
Program is for young climbers, 4-8  and meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4-5:30 pm.

This is the perfect program to get your child climbing and keep ’em climbing. No Experience Required! Equipment is included. Scramblers learn how to set and achieve goals, develop climbing skills, increase strength, flexibility and endurance, meet other climbers their age and improve overall fitness. Plus, climbing is a lot of fun!

Flagstaff Climbing JUNIOR TEAM

Junior Team participants develop climbing skills, increase strength, flexibility and endurance, meet other climbers their age and improve overall fitness. Junior Team is designed to prepare younger climbers for the Flagstaff Climbing Team. It meets Mondays at MSB, Wednesdays at DTC and Fridays at DTC, 4-5:30 pm during the school year.

Cost is $100 month + a full gym membership. Membership joining fees are waived for Jr. Team participants. This includes program instruction, rentals and unlimited climbing. No experience required! 

We also offer Flagstaff Climbing TEAM+ (Team Plus) for climbers who want to take it one step. In addition to Jr. Team practices, TEAM+ participants meet on Mondays at the Downtown Crag 5:30-6:30pm and Wednesdays at Paragon Athletics (next door to Main Street Boulders) 5:30-6:30pm. TEAM+ also goes climbing outdoors once a month.

Team+ cost is $150 month + a full gym membership. Membership joining fees are waived for Team+ participants. This includes program instruction, rentals and unlimited climbing.

All teams follow FUSD holiday and snow schedule.

 

Flagstaff Climbing TEAM

The Flagstaff Climbing Team is for young climbers who want to take their climbing to the next level while having a ton of fun climbing with their peers. Team participants develop intermediate to advanced climbing and training skills. It is for climbers ages 13-17. It meets Mondays at DTC, Wednesdays at MSB and Fridays at DTC, 4-5:30 pm during the school year.
 
Cost is $100 month + a full gym membership. Membership joining fees are waived for Team participants. This includes program instruction, rentals and unlimited climbing.

Climb Like a Girl

CLAG 1

Open to members and non-members.

In a male dominated sport like climbing it is important for women to have a strong, supportive community in which they can learn and progress to find their full potential. This class is designed to give beginning and intermediate women climbers the foundations, community and resources they need to enjoy and succeed at climbing. We will focus on climbing fundamentals, technique, mental training, and physical training. This is your chance to meet partners, learn new skills, get strong and have fun! This course also includes an outdoor climbing day at the end!

CLAG 2

This course will pick up right where CLAG 1 left off. For ladies interested in further pursuing lead climbing and learning the skills to transition from gym climbing to the outdoors, this class is perfect for you! Topics covered will include lead climbing, basic anchors, outdoor sport climbing skills, basic traditional climbing skills and more. Just like the original, this class will emphasize personal growth as a climber in a supportive environment. Get psyched and take your skills to the next level! This course also includes an outdoor climbing day at the end!

Boulder UP!

This course is for anyone who would like to become a more skilled and powerful climber.  Each class will include technique drills, projecting session and strength workout.  Join our experienced instructors at Main Street Boulders for a 90 minute bouldering session that will help you reach your full potential! Great for all levels of climbers! All you need to participate is a membership or gym pass. You do NOT need to register in advance. Just show up!

Rock Warrior’s Way Falling and Commitment Clinic!

Taught by Warrior’s Way trainer Laura Sabourin (of Flagstaff Climbing!), this clinic addresses fear of falling and improving commitment. Participants will do falling, movement, and resting exercises and apply all learned skills to a challenging route. This will be done in small increments creating appropriate progressions for each individual student. Each student will leave with a structured method for taking appropriate risks with diminished fear.
 
Students learn: • To fall safely • To give a cushioned belay • To distinguish between no- and yes-fall zones • How to engage no- and yes-fall zones • To break a climb into smaller risk events • Better risk assessment • How to rest effectively • To improve breathing • To trust the body • To create flow and momentum • To commit more deliberately • To reduce fear
 
Target Student: • For climbers who rope climb • For climbers who seek to improve commitment and diminish fear of falling
Prerequisites: • Minimum 6 months climbing experience • Climb a minimum of 5.9 in the gym without falling or hanging • Some exercises are on toprope; some are on lead. Being able to lead climb is not required, however.
 
If students want to lead during the clinic they must get lead certified at the gym PRIOR to the clinic date.
 
Equipment Needed: • Harness, shoes, and belay device • Helmet is recommended but not required (The gym will provide all if needed)
 
Cost: $99 members; $119 non-members

NAU Climbing Classes

If you are a current NAU student and want to learn to climb, improve your skills AND get NAU credit, our Beginning and Intermediate Rock Climbing Courses are for you!

 

NAU Beginning Rock Climbing
This course is based on technique; participants practice some of the basic skills of rock climbing in an indoor environment. Essential skills such as belaying, rappelling, climbing techniques, rope management and care of equipment will be covered. Course is held at Flagstaff Climbing’s Downtown Location. Transportation is not provided by NAU.

NAU Intermediate Rock Climbing
This course provides participants an intensive look at the skills of an intermediate rock climbing. Although the course is taught indoors, many of the skills taught will be preparing students for outdoor rock climbing. Lessons are arranged according to the ability and experience of class participants. This class is held at Flagstaff Climbing’s Downtown Location. Transportation is not provided by NAU.

GROUPS

Climbing at Flagstaff Climbing Center is a great way to get your group working together. Climbing teaches team work, clear communication and trust.

Climb On Group & Birthday Parties
Perfect for any one that can get at least 6 people together to climb at Flagstaff Climbing Center. Climb for two hours with your friends, family and co-workers. Our deck overlooking the climbing area is included in group rate and can be used for cake, pizza or just hanging out and watching climbers.

Rates: 6-9 climbers, starting at $23/climber 10+ climbers, starting at $19/climber

Rock Camp Group
Custom program that offers your group a more valuable experience. A minimum of three hours of climbing and instruction move beyond the Climb On experience with team building and challenging games at Flagstaff Climbing Center. Work with one of Facilitators to develop a plan that matches your team’s goals.

Rates: 6+ climbers, starting at $39/climber

Did you know? You can rent the climbing center during off hours. It’s great for large groups and overnighters. All group programs include day pass, rental gear and instruction. When scheduling a group you must reserve the time and give us a deposit at least one week in advance of the date requested. Cancellation policy is strictly enforced. Waivers are required for everyone in group. If climber is under 18, a parent or legal guardian signature is required on waiver. No exceptions. Waiver can be found here. Low Rate for Flagstaff School Groups!
School Groups from the Flagstaff area are ONLY $200 for up to 30 kids.  If you have more than thirty climbers, no problem.  It’s only $7 for each extra kid.

Our education program is accredited by the American Mountain Guides Association. This means that when you choose us to teach you climbing skills, you are learning from some of the most qualified guides and instructors in the southwest. Introduction to Gym Climbing:

Two hour class teaching the fundamentals of climbing movement, climbing knots and belay technique. Class includes a week of free climbing in the gym.

Indoor Lead Class:

Two hour class teaching the fundamentals of gym lead climbing and belaying. This class is for the new leader or for someone who wants to shake the rust off. New leaders should be comfortable climbing 5.9 on top rope. Must schedule at least 7 days in advance. This is an ongoing class.

Private Instruction:
$40/hr for one person
$30/hr each for two people
$25/hr each for 3-6 people
Work one on one with a Flagstaff Climbing Center Instructor. Practice movement skills, training techniques, anchors, jamming cracks, leading, rappelling, self rescue and more. Private Instruction can also be used to just have a dedicated belayer to maximize your climbing time.

Belay Lesson $8
We teach belay lessons on the fly. If you want to climb in the gym but are not familiar with belaying with a tube style belay device, properly putting on a harness and tying into the rope you must take this class. This lesson is included in our Beginning Day Package for $30 which includes day pass, rental gear and belay lesson. No reservations required.

 

Advanced Technical Skills Series
The Advanced Technical Skills Series is a set of courses designed to offer climbers at our gym instruction in advanced skills. All you need to participate is a membership or gym pass and to register in advance! Each course is limited to 7 people.

Anchor Cleaning

This course covers the principles, techniques and gear involved in retrieving your anchor once you’re done using it (aka “cleaning” the anchor).


Multi Pitch Systems

This course teaches the basic techniques used in multi-pitch climbing, emphasizing anchor management, rope skills, and descent techniques.


Hauling and Mechanical Advantages
